Gerald,
You must have completely missed my point.

I did not in any way say that it was _bad_ from you to drop support for
a package in contrib. The bad thing is not telling anybody about it.

By assigning I ment: "Hey list! I'm not going to be able to support
contrib packages for v1.1 anymore. If anyone's intrested in maintaining
them, please tell me". 

When I said support for v1.1 of classic is ending by the end of the year
I was referring to an email Jaakko sent to the list a while ago. I know
that that does not have anything to do with contrib (officially). But
many of us rely on contrib packages in order to have a the functionality
we want. And let's face it: running a mail server today without clamav
or similar is not a very good idea.

Lastly, I wasn't complaining about "bad support" from you. I know
nobody's getting paid for this. I was just asking for communication and
cooperation in order to avoid misunderstandings and broken / not very
safe servers out there. Telling us on the list that contrib packages
aren't going to be updated isn't very much asked, I think.
