Ok, I changed the /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd to shadow and the
/etc/cyrus-imapd/imapd.conf sasl_pwcheck_method to saslauthd and I can now
connect to the email account successfully.
Next todo: get Microsoft Outlook from a PC on the local domain to receive
mail from the cyrus POP3 account. I can get Outlook to login to the
account and successfully send a message to the account, but it won't
receive the mail in the account...

Folks,
I have recently installed the latest version of the server. Prior to this
I was using version 1.1. I was able to connect to the Cyrus POP3 pretty
much "right out of the box" with some mods to the postfix main.cf file.
After installing 2.0 and making similar mods to the main.cf, I can connect
to the Cyrus POP3, but I can't seem to authenticate. Here is what I'm
seeing:
tonyb@[/etc]->telnet localhost 110
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK mrt Cyrus POP3 v2.2.12 server ready <2272964974.1121885124 at mrt>
USER tonyb
+OK Name is a valid mailbox
PASS xxxxxxxx
-ERR [AUTH] Invalid login
Does anyone know how Cyrus authenticates the POP3 mailbox password? The
password I'm using is the same as the shadow password for the tonyb
account. Thanks
