Eric,
I asked a similar question a while ago, because I was in need of SCSI
capability in my kernel to handle the tape drive that I use for backup
in the network, and didn't get any answers.
Because I didn't get anything like the results that you reported when I
tried to download the kernel source rpm ( I didn't seem to have a
source archive! ), I wound up getting a "virgin" kernel from kernel.org
and building it as I always have.
I would also be interested in a TS Kernel HowTo, and would be willing to
collaborate in its construction.
