You will have to evaluate what kind of VPN you're about to set up. I have the impression that openswan is better if you're connecting two networks (like two offices), and openvpn is easier to setup if you have roadwarriors around because it has nice Windows client software. Openswan is a pain to set up for Windows clients. HTH, Mikael Bak -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I think it is because the protocol used isn't considered very safe. If you think security is an issue then you should really consider using openvpn instead of PPTP server. Read all about it here: http://openvpn.net/ And download nice Windows GUI here: http://openvpn.se/ Alternatively if you don't bother about security, then download Linux PPTP server from here (you'll probably have to compile it from source): http://www.poptop.org/ HTH, Mikael -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I absolutley LOVE OpenVPN. OpenVPN is an SSL based VPN solution. I've perfected a way (documentation in progress) to run OpenVPN 2.0 and have the clients (Linux or Windows) perform user authentication against a W2K/W2K3 Active Directory structure using OpenLDAP. Obviously OpenLDAP is needed for this type of auth. The TS APT mirrors have packages available for the OpenVPN 1.6 package. I prefer going out to the site, downloading the 2.0 source, and making my own RPM though. Newest versions and all. Check it out... It's a VERY nice package. I don't know of any other official repositories than those found there. For a list of packages I usually browse the repository on the mirror I find fastest (root dir): http://classic.tinysofa.org/download/ HTH, Mikael From gda at tinysofa.org Thu Mar 30 08:15:28 2006 From: gda at tinysofa.org (Gerald Dachs) Date: Thu, 30 Mar 2006 10:15:28 +0200 (CEST) Subject: [tinysofa-discuss] Repositories In-Reply-To: <20060330073055.GA13997@neep.com.au> References: <53599B87179DE947A3F8E90550BA89296B7D@amserver.AffidavitMaker.local> <48737.139.1.44.13.1143703131.squirrel@sohoserver.homelinux.net> <20060330073055.GA13997@neep.com.au> Message-ID: <60771.139.1.44.13.1143706528.squirrel@sohoserver.homelinux.net> > Gerald Dachs said: >> I don't know what gives you the idea that Apache2 is lacking. At least in tinysofa classic, if you use apt-get the first time it ask you to choose your mirrors, that is all you need, there are no additional servers. If you think you made it wrong the first time, p. E. forgot to choose a mirror for contrib, do what Mikael suggested in his mail. The /etc/httpd/logs/DavLock directory and /home/user/public_html/calendar both have to be writable by the user that apache is running as. You should look at your access.log and error.log files from apache to see from the back-end what is going wrong. I'll definitely have to download tinysofa classic and then take a closer look at all of the packages. I had just thought that HTTP was what apache 1.0 was officially called. -Brad -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
